A Brief Overview of Boron Nitride Powder

Industrial Boron nitride powder is a pure white ceramic material with the same hexagonal crystal structure to graphite. Boron nitride has the ability to withstand temperatures exceeding 2,000degC,and depending on the grade, its dielectric strength can be close to 1000 volts/mil. The Boron Nitride is hot-pressed to the form of billets that are then easily processed into rods or plates and even customized designs .

In terms of optical application, due to the extremely hardness of C-BN's film and the high transmittance across the entire wavelength spectrum from ultraviolet(from approximately 200 nm)to far infrared. It can be used as a coating on the surface of certain optical components. It is particularly suitable for use as a coating of window materials like zinc selenide(ZnSe)and zinc sulfide(ZnS).In out of that, it has good resistance to thermal shock and is hard, and is predicted to become an appropriate window material high-power Lasers as well as detectors.
